Britney Spears winning the first three Moonman statuettes

A year after her disastrous comeback attempt at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears swept the event on Sunday, winning the first three Moonman statuettes of her career.
The pop singer, whose career has been overshadowed in recent years by a litany of personal woes, took home the awards for video of the year, best pop video and best female video, all for the track Piece of Me.

‘Wow, thank you, I’m in shock right now. I was not expecting this,’ she said at the end of the night as she accepted the shiny Moonman statue for video of the year.
‘This is such an honor to have this award right now.’
Spears gave similar speeches with her previous two prizes – best female video and best pop video – politely thanking God, her children and her record label before quickly leaving the stage.

Despite weeks of speculation, Spears did not perform, instead opening the show by delivering just four sentences.
She said: ‘Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I’m here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now.’
She earned a few laughs during a pre-taped comedic segment with Superbad actor Jonah Hill, in which he repeatedly tried to trick her into kissing him.
The crowd was behind her from the start, with several stars offering their support on the red carpet.
‘I’ve always been a Britney Spears fan,’ said Ne-Yo. ‘I really want her to get out there and shut everyone’s mouth.’.

‘As far as Britney, she can do what she wants and still be the queen of all this,’ said T-Pain, who arrived at the ceremony on an elephant.
And Paris Hilton, her one-time party companion, presented Spears with the award for best pop video, telling her afterward: ‘I love you. I miss you. And it’s so good to see you.’.

Wearing a glittering silver dress that hugged her curves and her hair in soft blonde waves, she later posed for photos with her three trophies in the press room but did not answer questions from reporters.
Accompanied by her longtime manager Larry Rudolph, Spears chewed gum and grinned and kept her eyes straight ahead.
Other winners included R&B singer Chris Brown’s With You for best male video, Linkin Park’s Shadow of the Day for best rock video, and rapper Lil Wayne’s Lollipop for best hip-hop video.

Peaches Geldof strikes pose for sexy lingerie firm

Peaches Geldof reveals her fruity side in a new advert for Agent Provocateur where the scantily-clad star seductively dangles a cherry over a female model’s mouth.
The 19-year-old – who married musician Max Drummey last month – dons a transparent negligee and sexy lace hold-ups in the ‘Season of the Witch’ campaign.
Peaches – who is replacing Kate Moss as the face of the sexy lingerie firm – also poses with her friend Daisy Lowe for the Autumn and Winter collection and dresses as a suspender-clad priestess.

‘Peaches is exactly the right girl for us,’ an insider told the News of the World earlier this year.
The sexy pictures will no doubt enrage father Sir Bob who is already reeling from his daughter’s shock marriage.
‘She’s [Peaches] hot, young and of the moment. She’s got an edginess about her and we like the face of the firm to have that hint of danger. We’ve no doubt she’ll be a huge success.’
Peaches – whose numerous tattoos are clearly visible in the stunning pictures – wed Chester French frontman Max in Las Vegas on August 5th after a whirlwind month-long courtship.

Meanwhile sources have insisted that Sir Bob was actually happy with the pictures and for his younger daughter to feature in a later campaign.
A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Peaches is really pleased with the pictures, and actually Pixie loves them too. In fact, she is signing up to do a shoot later this year.’
Because Pixie is still a minor she needed parental consent for the deal to be agreed, which Sir Bob is understood to have given already.
The Boomtown Rats singer has come under fire over his parenting skills in the past year because of Peaches increasingly erratic behaviour.
Earlier this year, she was questioned by police over footage in which she is seen handing an alleged drug dealer up to £190, telling him: ‘I’m going to need Valium tomorrow after this.

Valium is often used by those coming down from stimulants such as cocaine, Ecstasy and amphetamines. Possession of any of them can lead to a jail term.
Miss Geldof was not charged because police said they were unable to prove what she bought.
In the DJ and TV presenter collapsed at her North London home after an alleged drug overdose and paramedics had to be called.
Her much publicised problems have prompted comparisons with mother Paula Yates, who died from a drug overdose in 2000.
However the scandals seemed to have helped Peaches branch into new areas after her DJ and broadcasting career appeared to have faltered.
In addition to the £500,000 Agent Provocateur deal, she is also launching her own fashion line with designers PPQ.
The teenager has moved to New York, ostensibly to start a new life with Mr Drummey, and is studying Fashion and Media at a college in the city. She has also secured an internship with upmarket fashion and lifestyle magazine Nylon.

They were there to raise cash for charity, and the Pussycat Dolls certainly bent over backwards to give it everything they had at last night’s Fashion Rocks.
The five Dolls, Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt and Melody Thornton, squeezed into skin tight PVC stockings and body suits for their energetic performance.
And despite their five inch stiletto boots they jumped, kicked and lunged their way through a fast-paced routine.

The Los Angeles group were originally a troupe of up to 30 girls which performed burlesque dance routines to Fifties and Sixties pop hits, before eventually hitting the big time at Johnny Depp’s infamous club the Viper Room.
